Professional qualifications move high — they're the first filter for most finance roles.
Qualifications: How to List Them
Qualifications are critical in finance. List them prominently with status.

Never list an exam you failed without passing it. Never inflate your status (Part Qualified ≠ Qualified).

3–4 lines. Qualifications first, then specialism, then key achievement, then target.

Work Experience: Achievement Bullets
Finance bullets live or die on numbers. Every bullet should have at least one figure.

Common Accountant CV Mistakes
Listing qualifications without status — "ACCA" alone doesn't tell the reader if you're qualified, part-qualified, or just enrolled. State it clearly.
No numbers — An accounting CV with no financial figures is immediately suspicious to a finance hiring manager. Every bullet needs a number.
Using the wrong GAAP — If you're applying for an IFRS role and only list UK GAAP experience, say so. Don't imply broader expertise you don't have.
Too much audit, not enough commercial — If you're moving from practice to industry, explicitly reframe audit work in commercial terms: client size, complexity, business understanding — not just procedures.
CV Length for Accountants
2 pages for most professionals. Part-qualified and newly qualified: 1–2 pages. Senior / Director / CFO: 2–3 pages if experience justifies it.
