Gulf CV Format: What Recruiters Expect
Applying for jobs in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman or Bahrain from abroad? Gulf recruiters screen hundreds of international applications per role. The CVs that get calls make visa, availability and qualifications obvious in the first few lines — and show experience that transfers to the region.

Applying from India
Mention your passport category if relevant — employers and agencies hiring from India for Gulf roles often ask whether it is ECNR or ECR, as ECR holders need emigration clearance. Also state if your degree is attested by the MEA and the destination country's embassy.
Applying from Pakistan
List trade test or skills certificates (for example NAVTTC certificates) for technical roles, and any previous Gulf employment with the country and employer name. Recruiters shortlist candidates with prior GCC experience first.
Applying from the Philippines
Include TESDA National Certificates (e.g. NC II) for skilled roles and any previous overseas employment. Overseas hiring runs through licensed agencies and the Department of Migrant Workers process, so make your availability and documents clear.
Applying from Egypt and other Arab countries
Highlight Arabic and English together — bilingual candidates are valued for client-facing and government-linked roles. Mention if your qualifications are attested and, for regulated professions, whether you've started licensing in the destination country.
Match the job title and keywords
Gulf recruiters and job boards search by job title and skills. Use the exact title and tool names from the advert rather than your employer's internal title.
Where to apply in the Gulf
Most large employers on these sites screen with ATS software. Match the job ad's wording — our job description keyword extractor pulls out the terms to use.
FAQ
What is the best CV format for Gulf jobs?
A clear 2–3 page reverse-chronological CV with a professional photo, personal details (nationality, location, notice period), a short summary, and experience with city and country for each role.
Do I need degree attestation for a Gulf job?
For most work visas in the GCC, yes. Stating that your certificates are attested, or in progress, removes a common reason for delay.
Should I include a photo on a CV for Dubai or Saudi Arabia?
Yes. A professional headshot is common and usually expected in the Gulf.
