Turkey CV Format: What Recruiters Expect

Turkish employers range from large holdings and banks to fast-growing tech firms and multinationals, and many of them screen CVs through job boards and applicant tracking systems. There is no official format. Most employers expect a short reverse-chronological CV with clear contact details, and many international roles expect it in English.

Length

1–2 pages.

Photo

Common but not required: many Turkish CVs include a professional headshot, unless the advert says otherwise.

Include

  • City and phone number with the +90 country code
  • Military service status, for male candidates (completed, deferred or exempt), as Turkish employers often ask
  • Languages with a level, plus test scores such as YDS or IELTS if you have them
  • Your university, department and graduation year
  • Driving licence class, if the job involves travel
  • Certificates and internships, especially early in your career

Leave out

  • Your national ID number, unless an employer asks for it
  • Marital status and family details, unless the advert asks for them
  • Salary expectations, unless you are asked
  • School details below university once you have work experience

Turkey-specific tips

Match the language of the advert

Send a Turkish CV for an advert written in Turkish and an English CV for one written in English. If you can, keep both versions up to date.

Keep your job board profile in step with your CV

Many Turkish employers search candidates directly on job boards. Use the same job titles and dates on your profile as on your CV.

Use the advert's keywords

Use the advert's wording for skills and tools you really have, so a recruiter or ATS search can find them. In a Turkish advert, that means the Turkish terms.

Put numbers on your results

Give figures for sales, budgets, teams and projects. Turnover and team size help a recruiter judge your experience quickly.

Say when you can start

If you have a notice period or a military service date coming up, say so. It saves a question later and shows you have thought about it.

FAQ

Should I put a photo on a CV in Turkey?

It is common but not required. Use a professional headshot, and follow the advert if it says otherwise.

Should I include military service on a Turkish CV?

Male candidates often do, because employers ask. A short line such as completed, deferred until a given date, or exempt is enough.

How long should a CV be in Turkey?

One to two pages for most jobs, with your most recent experience first.

Should my CV be in Turkish or English?

Match the language of the advert. Many multinationals and export-focused companies accept or expect English.
